Randstad's quarterly results indicate that hiring conditions are improving in several major markets despite continued economic uncertainty. Investors responded positively as stronger revenue growth strengthened confidence in a broader recovery for the recruitment industry.

Staffing company Randstad reported stronger-than-expected quarterly organic revenue growth, driving its shares more than 7% higher as investors welcomed signs of improving hiring activity in major markets, including the United States and Germany.

The company recorded organic revenue growth of 1.9% for the quarter ended in June, exceeding the analyst consensus forecast of 1%. Following the results, the company's stock extended its recovery after a challenging first half of the year marked by weaker labour market conditions.

Chief Executive Sander van 't Noordende said customer confidence was gradually improving alongside stronger economic activity. However, he noted that many businesses remain cautious because of ongoing geopolitical and economic uncertainty. According to the company, many clients are relying on flexible workers to balance staffing needs while limiting long-term risk.

Market analysts said investors appear to believe that hiring demand may have reached its low point and is beginning to recover as European business activity improves. They also pointed to purchasing managers' index (PMI) data as an indicator that demand for recruitment services is strengthening.

Randstad reported a gross margin of 18.2%, slightly below the analyst expectation of 18.3%, and said it expects gross margin to be modestly lower in the next quarter.

Regional performance also showed improvement. Revenue in Germany increased 4% year over year after previous declines, Iberia delivered 11% growth, and North America posted 4% growth, improving from flat performance in the previous quarter.
