Meta is expanding its AI offerings for businesses with a new agent designed to handle operational tasks and customer interactions. The launch signals the company’s growing focus on enterprise AI and its ambition to compete in the market for business automation tools.
Meta has unveiled a new artificial intelligence Business Agent designed to help companies manage day-to-day operations and customer interactions.
The announcement was made at the company’s Conversations conference in London, where Meta outlined its plans to expand AI capabilities across its business messaging platforms.
The new Business Agent builds on existing chatbot services available through WhatsApp and Messenger. According to the company, the updated version will also be introduced on Instagram and made available to businesses worldwide.
Meta said more than one million businesses are already using earlier versions of its business chatbots. The latest release adds new capabilities that allow the AI assistant to perform actions on behalf of businesses rather than simply responding to customer questions.
The agent can be customized to reflect a company’s communication style and assist with tasks such as answering common questions, qualifying potential customers, managing bookings, and directing more complex requests to human staff when necessary.
Meta said businesses will initially be able to use the service free of charge, with subscription-based options planned for the future.
In addition to the Business Agent, the company announced a broader Business Agent Platform that enables organizations to build customized AI agents for their own operational needs. The platform is designed to connect with external business systems and applications used by companies.
Meta also revealed that a dedicated Enterprise Solutions team is working on expanding AI products for business customers. The group will support organizations adopting AI tools and help develop solutions tailored to specific business requirements.
The company is also working to bring together its various AI products into a more unified experience for businesses. This includes customer support tools, business-focused assistants, and other AI-powered services already available across its platforms.
Meta acknowledged that AI agents capable of taking actions on behalf of businesses also introduce risks. The company said it continues to evaluate safeguards and controls as it develops these systems and investigates incidents involving AI-supported services.
The launch marks another step in Meta’s efforts to establish a stronger presence in the enterprise AI market as businesses increasingly explore AI-powered automation and customer engagement tools.
