Flipkart is preparing for higher festive-season demand with plans to add more than 250,000 direct and indirect workers. Around 30% of the new positions are intended for people entering the workforce for the first time, while a large share will support last-mile delivery.
Flipkart plans to bring in more than 250,000 direct and indirect workers, including contract employees, to handle the expected increase in business during the festive season. The planned hiring is 30,000 higher than the company's recruitment for the 2025 festive season.
Around 75,000 of these positions, representing 30% of the total, will be offered to people entering the workforce for the first time, according to Flipkart.
The company is also expanding its delivery network with more than 900 new festive delivery hubs and nearly 140,000 additional last-mile employment opportunities. Around 60% of the new jobs are expected to be in last-mile delivery, while women currently account for 20% of Flipkart's supply chain workforce.
Flipkart said the expansion is aimed at supporting customer demand ahead of Big Billion Days, with growth particularly continuing as Flipkart Minutes expands and demand increases across Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets.
Rajneesh Kumar, chief corporate affairs officer at Flipkart Group, said the company sees the festive hiring drive as part of a broader employment and entrepreneurship ecosystem, including opportunities for people entering the workforce and communities that have historically had fewer opportunities to participate in the formal economy.
The Flipkart Group includes Flipkart, Myntra, Flipkart Wholesale, Cleartrip and super.money.
The company's supply chain workforce will continue to receive support including medical and accident insurance, 24x7 Doctor on Call and e-Shram registration.
